Creature Classification with the Point Defiance Zoo

Animals, Children

Learn the characteristics that scientists use to classify the five animal groups. Kids will participate in an activity to identify a mystery animal, and spend time examining pelts, skulls, feathers and skin and meet one of the Zoo's animal ambassadors! Kids ages 7 - 12, $6 per child.

Sasquatch: Man-Ape or Myth?

Author David George Gordon evaluates the data gathered about the legendary Northwest icon, discusses the rules of critical thinking and the workings of the scientific method, and explains how one can become an effective “citizen scientist” by gathering credible evidence that can be used to substantiate the Sasquatch’s status as either Man-Ape or Myth. 25 Years of Seattle Poetics Lab

Community Event

Learn the unique history of Seattle Poetics Lab (SPLAB) with an evening celebration including renowned guest speakers and poetry readings at the Museum. SPLAB was founded by poet Paul Nelson right here in Auburn on December 14, 1993. Nelson hosted hundreds of radio interviews with local, regional and national poets while working to promote Cascadian poetry culture. Free event, but space is limited. Click HERE to RSVP.
