Erasure

Dance/House,Pop,Electronic

Erasure formed in 1985 out of the departure of founding Depeche Mode member Vince Clarke (who was then one half of Yaz opposite Alison Moyet) and singer Andy Bell. Like Yaz and Depeche Mode, Erasure were a synth-based group, but they had stronger dance inclinations, as well as a sharper, more accessible sense of pop songcraft. Among the duo's hit singles are "Oh l'amour," "Chains of Love," "Blue Savannah," "Stop!," "Love to Hate You" and their cover of ABBA's ''Take a Chance on Me." The duo's latest release, "The Violet Flame," follows 2013's critically acclaimed "Snow Globe," and is the band's sixteenth studio album release.

Brandi Carlile

Rock,Country,Pop

"Everyone needs to be risking something," says Seattle-based alt-country/folk singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile. "The Firewatcher's Daughter," her stunning 2015 release - her first for artist-friendly indie label ATO. marked a triumphant return after a three-year recording hiatus, and her strongest, most rock & roll album to date. Since her heralded, genre-defying 2005 Columbia debut, Carlile and her collaborators, Tim and Phil Hanseroth, aka The Twins, have always offered listeners both control and abandon, often within a single song. Her best-known tunes, 2007's "The Story" and 2012's "That Wasn't Me," are dynamic journeys in themselves, encompassing myriad emotions and varied stylistic touches.

Miranda Sings Live ... You're Welcome

Musical Comedy,Cabaret,Solo Performance

"Miranda Sings" is an internet character created by Colleen Ballinger. The character is a satire of increasingly common YouTube videos featuring mediocre or even bad singers who film themselves singing as a form of self-promotion. Miranda is supposedly from Tacoma, Washington, sings comically off-key, and, when confronted by viewers who take the videos seriously, uses the catchphrase, "Haters back off!" The characterization includes facial tics, unusually active eyebrows and a crooked smile. She also wears lipstick drawn beyond all natural borders and often dances stiffly to the music she is performing.

Lucius

Indie,Pop

In the summer of 2007, Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig moved into a dusty, old recording studio and music school formerly called the Bromley School of Music. With the help of the Bromley's original 1921 Steinway that was left at the house, they penned their debut album 'Songs From The Bromley House.' The four-story musical fortress housed 8 other musician friends and would soon open their doors to bandmates, Danny Molad and Peter Lalish amid their musical community. Since the critically acclaimed release of their 2013 debut LP, "Wildewoman" they have built a stunningly loyal following, and share an intimate bond with their fans. It’s not uncommon to see Lucius doppelgängers in the crowd. They followed that with the 2016 release "Good Grief."

Iliza Shlesinger

Stand Up Comedy

Winning "Last Comic Standing" (season six) may seem to be the beginning of a career in comedy, but not for Dallas native Iliza Shlesinger. Being the first female and the youngest winner of the competition show is just a part of this very hard-working comedian’s career. She has been perfecting her comedy by working at clubs nearly every night since she moved to Los Angeles, after graduating from Emerson College, and began her career in earnest. She recently completed the inaugural season of “Truth & Iliza,” her very own late night talk show on Freeform (formerly ABC Family). The self-styled talk show is a cross between social commentary, politics, pop culture and Iliza’s specific brand of feminism. In November 2017, her first book, "Girl Logic: The Genius and the Absurdity," a subversively funny collection of essays and observations on a confident woman's approach to friendship, singlehood, and relationships, will be published through Weinstein Books.

St. Paul & the Broken Bones

R&B/Soul,Blues

High-voltage soul-based rockers St. Paul & The Broken Bones render a blazing mating of ’60s soul fire with latter-day influences like Sly Stone, David Bowie and Prince. The Alabama-based band’s take-no-prisoners live shows caught the eye of the Rolling Stones, who tapped them as an opening band. “I love the Rolling Stones,” says frontman Paul Janeway, “but my train of thought is, you gotta try and blow ‘em off the stage. And that’s still my goal.” They stir up the crowd with guitars, horns, brass and a James Brown-worthy get-on-up style.
