Their notoriety, such as it is, stems from graphic descriptions of drug use and violence in their lyrics.

Maggie Rogers


Singer/songwriter Maggie Rogers, a Maryland native, unexpectedly found herself in the spotlight in 2016 after a video of Pharrell Williams listening to her song "Alaska" went viral. Within a short time she'd gained 100K Facebook followers and her two previous albums were racking up serious plays on Bandcamp. A mastered version of "Alaska" went on to receive over a million plays on Spotify.

Alice in Chains


Alice in Chains is an influential grunge group formed by lead singer Layne Staley (1967-2002). Along with Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden, Alice in Chains is one of the most commercially successful bands from the Seattle, Washington, grunge music scene. Unlike many of their peers, Alice in Chains owed more to heavy metal than to punk or '70s rock, but the group became closely associated with grunge due to their Seattle roots, the image they often presented by their attire, as well as with their introspective and sometimes morbid lyrics.

Bastille, the British indie-pop band from London, was nominated for the 2015 Best New Artist Grammy. Their album "Bad Blood" entered the U.K. albums chart at No.1 and held a spot in the top 20 for several weeks. The U.S. version of the album, featuring the smash alternative single, "Pompeii," arrived in 2013. In 2014 Jon Caramanica of The New York Times called them "a relatively toothless, relatively harmless band that takes 1980s New Romantic impulses and softens them up considerably until they resemble the overblown British soft arena-rock of the 2000s." He called their tunes "catchy," however, and described its front man, Dan Smith, as "a singer with character in his voice." Their new album, "Wild World," debuted in September 2016.

Influenced by soul, jazz, rock and pop Sara Bareilles' writing is bold, honest and edgy. Her sound has been described as everything from Norah Jones to Joni Mitchell, Fiona Apple to Alicia Keys. The Latino pop duo of Leonel Garcia and Noel Schajri have won four Premio Lo Nuestro Awards, as well as two Latin Grammy Awards, a Billboard Award, and an MTV Latin America Video Music Award. They went their separate ways in 2007 but reunited for a 2016 tour.
