Laughing Mater July Comedy Showcase 2019 *Pride Edition* *Headlined by El Sanchez*

Stand Up Comedy

We're back with our July installment of Laughing Mater! Come join us for an evening hilarious from some of the best comics the PNW has to offer. Host: Evelyn Jensen: Evelyn has been performing comedy in Seattle for the past five years. She is the producer of Live Laugh Love, has acted in various local projects (Northern Belles, Alyssa Explains It All), and co-wrote, directed, and starred in the two-woman play Blood Actually: A Mormon Murder Love Story. She competed in the 37th and 39th Seattle International Comedy Competitions and performed at Bumbershoot. Featuring: Paul Curry: Paul is a gay, red-headed comedy boy who lives in Seattle (where ICarly was set). Paul has opened for Sandra Valls, Jaboukie Young White and David Gborie. Paul also founded ComedyShow.exe, a University of Washington standup showcase that has featured comics like Eric Andre. Tin Lorica: Vancouver comedian and poet Tin Lorica has had a short but impactful career. They have created a monthly comedy and poetry show at the Red Gate Arts Society that showcases minorities and people of color, and was nominated for the Breakout Artist of the Year Award at the Vancouver Comedy Awards. Their comedy and poetry night is called Millennial Line and it was set up as a place for marginalized voices. Headliner: El Sanchez: A queer/trans/non-binary comedian and writer, El has performed all over the country since 2010. Their conversationally cynical, yet upbeat comedic style weaves together a unique mix of embarrassing personal stories, nerdy obsessions, social politics and possible overshares, making light of their own instances of social incompetence while also skewering oppressive social norms. They have been called "fearless" by City Arts Magazine, "a grumpy nugget of delight," by writer/activist Lindy West (Shrill: Notes From a Loud Woman) and "a brilliant new voice everyone should know," by comedian Hari Kondabolu. $10. Doors at 8PM. Show at 9PM. Sponsored by the flawless Mary Mart.
