Foo Fighters

Rock

Former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl started Foo Fighters as a one-man project in 1994 after Kurt Cobain's death, but it evolved into a full band, and within a year there was a self-titled album, as they announced themselves with the single "This Is a Call." Fast-forward and it's over two decades now, and Foo Fighters have had several hits such as "My Hero," "'Learning to Fly," "Everlong" and "DOA," and Grohl has become ubiquitous fronting Foo Fighters, touring, performing as a guest at tribute and awards shows, directing the 2014 HBO series "Sonic Highways." And in September 2017, their ninth album, "Concrete and Gold," is being released, preceded by the single "Run." As of 2017, the lineup includes Grohl, original members bassist Nate Mendel and guitarist Pat Smear (of legendary L.A. punks the Germs; he was also Nirvana's touring rhythm guitarist), along with guitarist Chris Shiflett, drummer Taylor Hawkins and, as of 2017, keyboardist Rami Jaffee (formerly of The Wallflowers).
