Brain Injuries Related to Falling

Nicole Chambers currently serves as the Resource Center Operations Manager for the Brain Injury Alliance of Washington. Brain injury is the major cause of death and disability in the United States. It is estimated that 5.3 million Americans are living with a disability due to traumatic brain injury (TBI) and that TBI contributes roughly to one-third of all injury-related deaths. The leading cause of TBI is falling, meaning senior citizens are especially at risk for incurring a TBI. This presentation will cover what a brain injury is, the spectrum of brain injury, and how to reduce the risk of falling. It will also cover free services that are available to individuals who have sustained a brain injury.
