National Learn to Row Day June 2 Swantown Marina Olympia Area Rowing

Class/Workshop, For the Family

Mark your calendar Ė Free Row Day is the first Sat in June. Interested in learning more about rowing? Want to get in an 8-person boat and try it out first-hand? Then this event is for you. National Free Learn to Row Day is Sat, June 2. Registration begins at 8:30 am, and you must come to the boathouse to register in person. Itís wise to show up early, since itís on a first come/first served basis, and the spaces fill up fast. Time slots are 1-hour each between 8:30 am and 3 pm. You can register for any time thatís available Ė just plan to be back at the boathouse 15 minutes before that scheduled time. You will be given a brief tour of the boathouse, learn correct technique on a rowing machine, and then head out on the water to row for 40 minutes with a coach and experienced rowers. Please wear comfortable clothes that are not loose, to avoid catching them in the boat. You must be 13 years or older to row. If you are under 18, you will need parental permission. This is a great way to try out the sport. OAR members will be on hand to answer questions, and info about the youth rowing program and adult sweep and sculling classes is also on the OAR website.
