The Future of the News Industry

Across the country, news organizations are struggling to find their footing in the digital age. Their survival depends on whether they can successfully attract new generations of readers and viewers. Josh Farley, a 14-year veteran reporter of the Kitsap Sun, offers his view of news reporting in this lecture. No matter their age, people love a good story – although, according to Farley, “the way it is told and delivered will continue to evolve before our eyes.” He presents his roadmap for the future of the news industry and explains why our democracy depends on media responses to this existential crisis. Event location: Instructional Services Building, William D. Harvey Theater (CIC 132). Presenter: Josh Farley.
