2018 Arbor Day Events Olympia's Arbor Day festivities will take place Saturday, March 17, from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. at LBA Park. Meet at the shelter for all events. Birding Walk : 9am - 10:30am You are invited to join a guided bird walk lead by members of the Black Hills Audubon Society. Invasive Plants of Local Forests Workshop: 10:30 - 11 a.m. Learn how to identify, manage and prevent the spread of problematic non-native plants in local forests and yards. You'll learn about the impacts of invasive species and native plants that thrive in similar conditions. Pruning Workshop: 11am - 12pm Learn about proper pruning techniques to improve tree health with skilled professionals. Hand on demonstrations held nearby in the park. Amazing music will be provided by the Artesian Rumble Arkestra from 11am-12pm. Arbor Day Celebration: Noon - 1 p.m. Join us for our annual celebration of Arbor Day. This year we will feature the Mayor's proclamation, presentation of the Jay Butts Friends of Trees Award, and sculpture dedication at the trailhead of LBA Woods. Volunteer Stewardship Event: 1 - 3 p.m. Help restore native habitat in the park by planting native trees and bushes. Gloves and tools will be provided.
