About Town

Jesse Colin Young

Jesse Colin Young was one of the most original singer-songwriters of the early '60s. "Lullaby," "Little Suzie" and "Green Hill Mountain Home" are songs that transcend folk, blues, country and jazz. Later he formed The Youngbloods, whose single "Get Together" became a worldwide top-10 hit and a prominent soundtrack for peace.

Following their debut album, 2013's "Dark Hollar Pop," Chapel Hill's Mipso (Jacob Sharp on mandolin and vocals, Wood Robinson on bass and vocals, Joseph Terrell on guitar and vocals, and Libby Rodenbough on fiddle and vocals) released "Old Time Reverie" in the fall of 2015 to rave reviews from critics and fans alike. The album shot up the Billboard charts, where it landed atop the Bluegrass Chart and in the top 25 of the Heatseakers Chart. Influenced by the contradiction of their progressive home of Chapel Hill, North Carolina and the surrounding rural southern landscapes, "Old Time Reverie" dips in, explores and mixes the complexities of traditional bluegrass with modern instrumentation and smart pop melodies. The result is a distinctly unique blend of modern-day Americana.
